Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), April 19: On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘Orange’ warning, signaling a heatwave to severe heatwave condition expected in one or two places across districts including Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh within the next 24 hours.
Likewise, a heatwave condition is anticipated in a few areas of districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur during the same period, with the IMD issuing a ‘Yellow’ warning for these regions.
Moreover, isolated light rain or thundershowers are expected in districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati, while dry weather is predicted for the rest of Odisha over the next 24 hours, as stated by the IMD.
The weather agency cautioned that due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and intense solar insolation, daytime temperatures are likely to soar to 40°C or higher in most Odisha districts, with temperatures expected to be 3 to 5°C above normal in some areas over the next 2-3 days.
