IGP Satyajit Naik Honoured with DGP’s Disc Award for Exemplary Service in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Satyajit Naik, IPS, Central Range, has been honoured with the prestigious DGP’s Disc Award for 2024–25, recognising his outstanding service and leadership in maintaining law and order across Odisha.
A 2008‑batch IPS officer, Dr Naik assumed charge as IGP on January 1, 2026, after serving as DIG of the Eastern Range, Balasore.
Known for his emphasis on people‑centric policing, he has steered the force through complex challenges with strategic foresight.
His pivotal role during Cyclone Dana ensured public safety andthe rapid restoration of normalcy.
He also spearheaded initiatives to foster communal harmony and led investigations into poaching cases in Similipal Tiger Reserve, resulting in the arrest of key suspects.
Beyond policing, Dr Naik is an ISB Scholar and an elite marathoner, embodying both intellectual rigour and physical endurance.
The award, presented on Police Formation Day, affirms his unblemished service record.
Dr Naik credited his team’s collective effort and reiterated his commitment to transparent, accountable, and citizen‑friendly policing.
