Groom’s Car Halted at Jaydev Vihar as Bharat Bandh Grips Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: A wedding journey turned chaotic when the car carrying the groom, Abdudul Faim Kha,n was blocked by protesters at Jaydev Vihar Square during the Bharat Bandh.
The bandh, called by trade unions, brought traffic to a standstill across Odisha, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
The groom, travelling from Balasore to Khurda, was caught in the gridlock as demonstrators staged loud protests and halted vehicles on NH‑16.
Police were deployed to manage the situation, but traffic flow remained severely disrupted.
The bandh’s impact was felt beyond Bhubaneswar, affecting cities like Cuttack, Baleswar, Rourkela, Berhampur, and Sambalpur.
Families, travellers, and even wedding parties faced delays, highlighting the widespread consequences of the strike.
The incident at Jaydev Vihar symbolised how the bandh disrupted not just daily routines but also life’s most special occasions, underscoring the scale of unrest across the state.
