Bhubaneswar, July 24 (UNI) A minor derailment occurred today when the rear trolley of a general coach, located next to the guard van of the Shalimar-Sambalpur Express, derailed near Sambalpur City Station, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said.
The incident took place in the Sambalpur City–Sambalpur section shortly after the train departed from Sambalpur City at 09:18 hrs, moving at a very slow speed.
ECoR officials confirmed that there was no loss of life or damage to property. Except for the affected coach, the rest of the train resumed its journey to Sambalpur with all passengers safe.
Senior railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), reached the site to supervise early restoration work and initiate an inquiry into the cause of the derailment.
