Five Arrested in Sundargarh for Operating Interstate Online Gambling Racket

Rajgangpur, September 9, _ in a major crackdown on illegal online gambling, Rajgangpur police arrested five individuals for running an interstate betting operation from a rented house in Station Pada.

Acting on intelligence reports, authorities raided the premises and uncovered a sophisticated network of digital gambling platforms linked to the notorious Mahadev Book App.

The accused—hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha—used apps such as Ready Anna, Foyer Play, Gold 365, and Leisure 247 to facilitate betting activities. Police seized 19 iPhones, two HP laptops, and multiple multi-SIM cards used to manage the operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Jagadish Rao (24), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Maddu Kartik (20), Khurshipur, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh
  • Ayush Bambekar (19), Gudiyari, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
  • Mahendra Gedam (20), Sugela village, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh
  • Sandeep Yadav (20), Gangajal village, Sundargarh, Odisha

Legal proceedings have been initiated under IPC sections 318(2), 336(3), 340(2), and 365, along with Section 3 of the Odisha Gambling Control Act. All five accused have been forwarded to court.
