Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to launch the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana for tribal students in Odisha on January 5. This initiative aims to provide one-time financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students across the state, with a focus on reducing the drop-out rate among tribal communities.
Under the scheme, students in Class 9 and Class 10 attending government and aided schools will receive a financial incentive of Rs 5,000. Official sources indicate that ST students who are already benefiting from other scholarship schemes will still be eligible to receive this additional assistance.
According to the guidelines, eligible ST students who complete their Class 8 and subsequently enroll in Class 9, as well as those moving from Class 10 to Class 12, will receive the Rs 5,000 incentive after enrollment. The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage tribal students to continue their education and minimize the likelihood of dropping out, thereby promoting educational attainment within these communities.
