England Women beat India by 8 wickets at Lord’s

London, July 20 (UNI) England Women produced a dominant performance to defeat India Women by eight wickets via the DLS method in the second ODI of the ongoing India Women’s tour of England at Lord’s today IST.

Chasing a revised target of 116 runs in 21 overs after rain interrupted play, England cruised to victory in just 21 overs with eight wickets in hand, levelling the three-match series 1-1.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, England restricted India to 143 for 8 in 29 overs.

India’s innings never gained momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Only Smriti Mandhana (42 off 51 balls) and Deepti Sharma (30* off 34) showed some resistance.

Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the English bowlers, claiming 3 for 27 in her 6 overs.

Linsey Smith and Emily Arlott picked up two wickets apiece, while Charlie Dean chipped in with one.

In reply, England got off to a solid start with Amy Jones anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 46 off 57 deliveries.

Tammy Beaumont (34) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (21) provided quick contributions before Sophia Dunkley finished things off with an unbeaten 9.

Spinner Sneh Rana and medium pacer Kranti Goud took a wicket each for India.
