Democratic Spirit Prevails: Barbil Lawyers Elect New Leadership

Barbil – In a significant exercise of democratic tradition, elections for both the Barbil Lawyers’ Association and the Barbil Bar Association were successfully conducted under the Odisha State Bar Council’s directive of “One Bar, One Vote, One Day.” The newly elected executive committees will serve from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

Barbil Lawyers’ Association
Election officer and senior advocate Parmeshwar Bhukta announced the new office bearers, chosen unanimously.
– President: Dilip Kumar Raut
– Vice President: Shubhendu Kumar Giri
– Secretary: Mamata Das
– Joint Secretary: Pradeep Kumar Dhal
– Assistant Secretary: Basant Kumar Mohapatra
– Treasurer: Anita Mahanta
– Library Secretary: Tarun Kumar Sen

Executive members include Pramod Pattnaik, Sujit Kar, Abdul Latif, Jyoti Ranjan Mohanty, Naresh Patra, Sujata Das, and Mamata Champia.

Barbil Bar Association
Election officer Advocate Pratap Jena declared the following leadership team:
– President: Balram Mohanty
– Vice President: Gagan Bihari Bhattamishra
– Secretary: Debapriya Rana
– Joint Secretary: Mihir Namtoar
– Assistant Secretary: Prashrna Kumar Parida
– Library Secretary: Bishnupriya Sethi
– Assistant Library Secretary: Jagannath Sethi

Executive members elected are Laxmi Khuntia, Manoj Singh, Sanjay Mahapatra, Harischandra Bari, and Kamala Patra.

Strengthening Democratic Traditions
As per the Bar Council’s mandate, elections are held annually on the last Saturday of March.

This year’s process not only reinforced democratic values within the legal fraternity but also infused fresh energy into Barbil’s judicial and civic activities.

The newly elected committees are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing both professional and social initiatives in the region.
