Debashish Samantaray Quits BJD, Alleges Neglect

Bhubaneswar, May 25: Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray has resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), citing neglect and humiliation within the party.

In his resignation letter addressed to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Samantaray stated that he felt systematically belittled and that his services were no longer required.

Expressing gratitude to Patnaik for nominating him to the Rajya Sabha, Samantaray acknowledged the opportunity to serve Odisha and the undivided Cuttack district at the national level.

He emphasised that he had worked with conviction and commitment but decided to step down in the larger public interest.

Calling the decision “difficult but necessary,” Samantaray’s exit marks another setback for the ruling party ahead of crucial political developments in the state.

His resignation underscores growing discontent among senior leaders within the BJD.
