Congress will support if BJD moves a No-Confidence Motion against Odisha Government :OPCC Chief

Bhubaneswar, July 23 (UNI) Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das today said that the Congress will support a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led Mohan Majhi government if the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) initiates it over the rising incidents of atrocities against women in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, Das said, “If the BJD does not move a no-confidence motion against the BJP government led by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, the Congress will take the initiative and urge the BJD to support it.”
He asserted that the Congress will continue its struggle against the injustice and oppression of women across Odisha.

“The movement for women’s justice will continue unabated until a satisfactory resolution is reached and a robust justice mechanism is established for the victims,” Das said.
He expressed regret that despite widespread incidents of atrocities, the government remains indifferent.

“The people of Odisha are shocked and ashamed at the increasing crimes against women,” he added.
Das said that Congress MLAs had demanded the formation of a House Committee to investigate

the issue, but the government ignored the request.
He further alleged that the BJP government is neither taking effective steps nor resigning on moral grounds over the alarming situation.

“The main opposition, BJD, should move a no-confidence motion. Congress will back it. If BJD does not act, Congress will take the lead and expects BJD’s support,” Das reiterated.

Echoing similar sentiments, former Union Minister Srikant Jena said that even after 75 years of independence, such shameful incidents continue to occur in Odisha, highlighting the government’s failure in maintaining law and order.
