Congress leader Rahul Gandhi plans Odisha visit to galvanize party base

Bhubaneswar(Orissa Today), May 12: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to make a visit to Odisha on May 15 to rally support for party candidates contesting in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. During his brief stay, Rahul plans to participate in a motorcycle rally and deliver a speech at a public gathering in Balangir, as confirmed by Congress candidate for Balangir Assembly constituency, Samarendra Mishra.
The focus of Rahul’s visit is expected to be on criticizing the ruling BJD government, particularly concerning issues such as escalating unemployment and the significant outflow of young individuals migrating to other states in search of employment opportunities. Balangir stands out as one of the districts in Odisha deeply affected by this widespread migration of jobless youths.
It’s worth noting that Rahul’s earlier plan to visit the tribal-dominated Rayagada district on May 3 was altered due to his engagement in filing nomination in Rae Barelli. Consequently, he addressed an election rally via virtual mode. Prior to this, Rahul had already held his inaugural public meeting in the Salepur assembly constituency located in Cuttack district.
