CMC Cracks Down on Stale Food at Bali Yatra 2025, Vendors Fined

Cuttack, November 8: In a decisive move to uphold public health standards, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted a surprise food safety raid at the bustling Bali Yatra 2025 fairgrounds on Saturday morning.

Acting on reports of unhygienic food practices, officials from the Food Safety Department inspected numerous stalls, particularly within the ORMAS section.

The inspection revealed alarming violations. Large quantities of spoiled yoghurt, reused cooking oil, and banned artificial food colours were seized.

Some vendors were found using expired dairy products with faded date markings, while others reused oil to the point it resembled engine grease.

“Stale food can lead to serious gastrointestinal issues,” a food safety officer warned. “We’ve found items clearly unfit for consumption, and immediate action was taken.”

A mobile food testing lab was deployed on-site to analyse paneer and other dairy samples. Based on the findings, fines were imposed and unsafe food items were destroyed to prevent public exposure.

The raid came just a day after the Chadakhai celebrations, a time when footfall at the fair peaks. The CMC has assured that strict monitoring will continue throughout the event to ensure food safety and protect the health of thousands of visitors.
