CM Mohan Charan Majhi Leads Patriotic Rendition of ‘Bande Mataram’ at Lokaseva Bhawan
Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: In a stirring tribute to India’s national song, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led a collective rendition of ‘Bande Mataram’ at Lokaseva Bhawan today, marking the 150th anniversary of the iconic composition.
Joined by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and senior officials from various departments, the CM’s performance created a deeply patriotic atmosphere within the state’s administrative headquarters.
Government employees also participated, reinforcing the emotional resonance of the occasion.
The event was part of a statewide initiative by the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, which directed all schools, colleges, and universities to observe the day by singing ‘Bande Mataram’. The directive aimed to instil national pride and cultural awareness among students.
Penned by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875 and later included in his novel Anandamath, ‘Bande Mataram’ was officially adopted as India’s national song on January 24, 1950. Its lyrics celebrate the beauty, bounty, and spirit of the motherland.
Today’s celebration not only honoured the song’s legacy but also reaffirmed its enduring power to unite and inspire.
