CM Majhi Flags Off ‘Zero Accident Day’ in Keonjhar to Champion Road Safety

Keonjhar — In a landmark move to curb road accidents and promote responsible driving, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the “Zero Accident Day” campaign in Keonjhar on Saturday.

Spearheaded by the Commerce and Transport Department, the initiative aims to foster a culture of safety, especially in mining-affected regions where heavy vehicle traffic poses significant risks.

The Chief Minister launched awareness drives across all 13 blocks of Keonjhar and unveiled a “Zero Accident Selfie Point” to engage the public.

Educational materials were distributed, and road safety advocates were honoured for their contributions.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility,” CM Majhi stated, urging citizens to follow traffic rules and remain vigilant.

The campaign reflects the government’s commitment to reducing accidents through awareness and enforcement.

Dignitaries present included MPs Sujit Kumar and Ananta Nayak, along with senior officials such as DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, STA Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, DIG Brijesh Ray, and District Collector Vishal Singh.

Keonjhar becomes the first district in Odisha to adopt this initiative following its successful rollout in Bhubaneswar.

With technical support from IIT Madras, a 14-day program has been launched to guide accident prevention strategies and promote road safety education.
