Class 8 Tribal Student Brutally Assaulted in Koraput Ashram School Hostel
Koraput, – September 25,: A shocking case of student violence has surfaced from Panchada Sebashram in Laxhmipur block, Koraput district, where a Class 8 tribal student was allegedly tied up and beaten by four fellow students inside the school hostel.
The victim, Abhilash Saunta of Lachmani village, was reportedly bound by his hands and feet and assaulted on his face and back.
Initially treated at Kakiriguma Health Centre, he was later shifted to Laxhmipur Medical Centre due to the severity of his injuries.
Fearing further threats, the boy fled the hostel and was found by a local auto driver who helped him reach medical care.
His family, upon learning of the incident, confronted the headmaster, Sunil Kumar Burudi, who allegedly dismissed the matter. The family then arranged for ambulance support to transfer the student to a better facility.
This is not the first violent episode at Panchada Sebashram. Reports suggest a pattern of unchecked aggression, including intoxicated student fights and near-fatal assaults. Despite previous investigations, no substantial action has been taken, raising concerns about systemic negligence.
Local residents and activists are now demanding a thorough probe and accountability from the district administration to ensure student safety and institutional reform.
