Businessman robbed of ₹15 lakh at gunpoint in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted around ₹15 lakh from a businessman at gunpoint in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred near Chhatabeda weekly market under Parua gram panchayat around noon. Abdul Ansari, a businessman from Pathan Sahi in Raighar, was traveling to the market with two aides when the masked assailants intercepted them.
The miscreants demanded the money bag from Abdul, and when he resisted, they attacked him and his aides. Overpowered by the assailants, Abdul sustained critical injuries. The miscreants then brandished a gun, forcing Abdul to surrender the bag containing the cash. Before locals could intervene, the robbers fled the scene.
Abdul was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals for treatment. Meanwhile, Raighar police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the robbery.
This incident comes just two days after another robbery in Nabarangpur town, where gold jewelry weighing 100 grams and ₹18 lakh in cash were looted from a businessman’s residence. Police are probing possible connections between the two cases.
