Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) Feb 4: In a major security scare, at least 12 bombs were recovered from a goods train wagon at Kantabanji Railway Station in Odisha’s Balangir district on Tuesday. The discovery was made during a routine inspection by security personnel, raising serious concerns about railway security and the transportation of explosives.
According to sources, the bombs are suspected to have originated from the Ordnance Factory Badmal (OFBL) in Saintala, which manufactures arms, ammunition, and explosives for defense purposes. However, how these explosives ended up in the railway wagon remains unclear. The standard protocol for transporting such materials involves strict security measures, making this incident even more alarming.
Following the discovery, security forces launched a thorough investigation to trace the source of the bombs and determine if there was any lapse in the transportation process. Authorities are also looking into whether there was any unauthorized access to the consignment.
Efforts are ongoing to piece together the entire sequence of events leading to the retrieval of the bombs. Further details are awaited as officials continue their probe into the incident.
