Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 5: After securing a remarkable victory in the Odisha Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now focusing on forming the government and selecting a Chief Minister for the state.
Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal informed reporters that the party’s Parliamentary Board will make a decision regarding the next Chief Minister within the next day or two. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the BJP Chief Minister would take place on June 10.
Samal stated that the selection of the Chief Ministerial candidate would adhere to the criteria outlined by the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the chosen individual must be an Odia who will uphold the culture and traditions of the state.
Discussing the primary agenda of the incoming government, the state BJP chief mentioned that the Ayushman Bharat scheme would replace the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) initiated by the BJD government.
Highlighting the limited scope of BSKY, Samal expressed that the BJP administration intends to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which offers broader coverage compared to BSKY cards. Additionally, he noted that this scheme would benefit approximately 1.5 crore Odias residing outside the state.
