BJP Government will play a long innings in Odisha: Manmohan Samal

Bhubaneswar, July 8 (UNI) Manmohan Samal, who was re-elected as the President of the BJP’s Odisha unit for the second consecutive term, today said that the BJP government in Odisha is set to play a “long innings.”
Addressing a felicitation ceremony held at the party office here, Samal said the BJP government will remain strong and active through 2036 and even 2047.

“For that, we must work as a team,” he emphasised, adding, “In the days ahead, we all have to work together. The word ‘impossible’ doesn’t exist in our vocabulary—everything is possible.”

Samal stressed the need to further strengthen the party organisation and urged party workers to reach out to villages and connect respectfully with the people, acknowledging that the party’s responsibilities have increased.

Crediting the rise of the party to the dedication of its workers, Samal—who has now been elected as the party’s president for the fourth time—said, “If our workers had not toiled hard, we would not have grown from a ‘signboard party’ to a ruling party.”

“Back in 1988, we were called a signboard party and ridiculed. But today, we formed the government. Ours is the only party where a tea-seller can become the Prime Minister, and a school teacher from a rural village can rise to become the Chief Minister,” he said.

Samal praised the hard work and patience of BJP workers, stating that their efforts, despite repeated insults, had brought the party to power in Odisha.

He noted that with the BJP government taking charge, the image of Odisha is transforming, and the party will continue to support the government in its mission to serve the people.

“The BJP government is committed to fulfilling its promises. In just one year since forming the government in the state, we have already delivered on 11 out of 21 promises made in our manifesto,” he said.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, congratulating Samal, said it was significant that he assumed the state BJP presidency for the fourth time on the auspicious occasion of Niladri Bije of Lord Jagannath.

Extending his heartfelt wishes, Majhi said, “Under Samal’s leadership, the BJP has come to power in Odisha. It was under his guidance that we achieved the seemingly impossible—winning 21 out of 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state.”

He praised Samal’s “strong leadership, strategic organisational skills, and unwavering dedication to the party workers,” which, he said, had given the BJP a renewed identity in the state.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by BJP MPs, MLAs, Ministers, senior leaders, and Odisha BJP in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, co-incharge Lata Usendi, and the party’s election observer Sanjay Jaiswal, who formally announced Samal’s re-election as State President.
