BJD Suspends Jajpur Zilla Parisad VP Over Anti‑Party Activities
Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended Ganeswar Baral, Vice President of Jajpur Zilla Parisad, over allegations of anti‑party activities.
The order, issued by BJD headquarters and signed by Vice President Pratap Jena on behalf of the party president, took immediate effect on January 16, 2026.
Party sources said the disciplinary action was taken to uphold organisational discipline and safeguard party values. Baral has been barred from participating in any official BJD programmes until further notice.
This move comes amid a series of disciplinary measures by the ruling party, which recently suspended two sitting MLAs for similar charges.
The latest suspension underscores BJD’s firm stance against internal dissent and its emphasis on maintaining unity ahead of upcoming political challenges.
