Bhubaneswar,(OT webdesk)— The Bhubaneswar Railway Station is undergoing a transformative Rs 398 crore redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with nearly 80% of work completed and a grand reopening scheduled for November 2025.
The revamped station will feature a 108-metre air concourse replacing old foot overbridges, creating seamless connectivity across all six platforms.
Infrastructure upgrades include a completed three-storey eastern block and an eleven-storey western wing, currently reaching its fourth floor.
Passenger convenience is central to the design, with 34 lifts, 20 escalators, executive lounges, food plazas, baggage screening zones, and information kiosks.
A new elevated roadway, inspired by airport architecture, will streamline vehicle movement through separate entry and exit levels.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority has initiated foundational work on the flyover corridor.
Built to serve up to one lakh daily passengers (up from 77,000), the station embraces green design with energy-efficient systems, EV charging stations, landscaping, and barrier-free access for Divyangjan.
Commercial spaces under the ‘One Station One Product’ initiative will further boost local enterprise.
With cutting-edge amenities and sustainable planning, Bhubaneswar’s railway station is poised to become a next-generation travel hub, symbolising Odisha’s progress and vision.
