Bhubaneswar Kidnapping Attempt Foiled: Two Held, Minor Rescued

Bhubaneswar kidnapping attempt

Bhubaneswar, June 16(OT Webdesk): A swift act of vigilance by local residents thwarted a kidnapping attempt in the Dumduma area of Bhubaneswar late Sunday night.

Two labourers from West Bengal—identified as Gopal Majumdar and Mrityunjay Ghosh from Medinipur—allegedly sedated a minor girl in a bid to abduct her.

The accused were intercepted by alert residents who rescued the unconscious girl and immediately informed the authorities.

Both youths were reportedly under the influence of intoxicants when caught and have since been arrested by Khandagiri police.

The minor has been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical evaluation.

While initial reports suggest no signs of sexual assault, forensic tests will determine the full nature of the incident.

Police officials are now probing the duo’s criminal history and potential links to similar past incidents.

Meanwhile, they have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to ensure community safety.
