Baripada–Bangiriposi Train Services Suspended After Track Damage
Train services on the Baripada–Bangiriposi route were suspended late Sunday night after heavy rainfall caused nearly 50 metres of track to sink near Sunagadia in Station Bazar.
The damage was detected during the passage of a DMU train, shortly after the Puri–Bangiriposi Superfast Express had safely crossed the section earlier in the day.
Railway maintenance teams rushed to the site at midnight and have been working continuously to restore the track.
Officials emphasised that services will only resume once the section is declared safe for train movement.
The incident highlights the growing impact of monsoon rains on Odisha’s transport infrastructure, with authorities urging passengers to remain alert for schedule updates.
