Bhubaneswar, July 20(OT Webdesk)– In a critical medical intervention, a minor girl from Balanga, who sustained severe burns in a brutal petrol attack, is being airlifted from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to AIIMS Delhi for advanced treatment.
The victim reportedly suffered 70–75% burns, and her condition remains life-threatening, prompting the urgent transfer.
Doctors at AIIMS Bhubaneswar initiated the move after her condition showed little improvement and required specialised burn care.
A dedicated medical team is overseeing the air evacuation, while the Delhi AIIMS authorities have confirmed readiness to receive the patient. One family member will accompany the girl during the transfer.
The attack occurred in broad daylight on July 19, when unidentified assailants allegedly targeted the minor girl while she was en route to a friend’s house.
The perpetrators poured petrol on her and attempted to set her ablaze in a secluded location.
Medical professionals have marked the next 48 hours as crucial in determining her recovery trajectory. The incident has sparked outrage across Odisha, with authorities urged to ensure swift justice for the victim.
