Baby Crocodile Rescued from Chandrabhaga Sea Sparks Wildlife Awareness
Konark, — In a rare coastal encounter, a baby crocodile was rescued from the shores of Chandrabhaga Sea on Saturday, triggering both alarm and awe among local fishermen.
The juvenile reptile was spotted near Noliasahi village, prompting swift action from the Konark Forest Department.
Forest officials, led by Wildlife Officer Sudarshan Dehuri, safely captured the wandering crocodile and transferred it to the Konark Wildlife Division office for observation.
Experts suspect the young crocodile may have entered the sea from a nearby estuary, with its mother believed to be residing along the same coastal stretch.
The rescued reptile is set to be relocated to Nandankanan Zoological Park for rehabilitation.
The incident has drawn attention to the growing presence of wild reptiles along Odisha’s coastline and underscored the importance of rapid wildlife response and community awareness.
“This rescue highlights the delicate balance between human activity and wildlife habitats,” said Dehuri. “We urge coastal communities to remain vigilant and report unusual sightings.”
