9 Devotees Killed in Stampede at Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh

A devastating stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam district, claimed the lives of nine devotees and left several others injured.
The incident occurred during Ekadashi celebrations when an overwhelming crowd gathered at the temple premises.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the stampede broke out due to overcrowding during the religious observance.
Emergency services and police teams were swiftly deployed to manage the situation and assist in rescue operations.
The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities fear the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue.
State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu visited the temple to assess the situation and held discussions with temple authorities. Additional police forces have been stationed to support crowd control and relief measures.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, extending condolences to the families of the deceased.
He directed officials to ensure prompt medical care for the injured and urged local representatives to oversee relief operations.
This incident has raised serious concerns about crowd management at religious sites, especially during major festivals.
