2 DRG personnel injured in ongoing anti Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh
Raipur/Bijapur, Aug 12 (UNI) Two personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) sustained injuries during a prolonged encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police officials confirmed here on Tuesday.
The operation, launched in the Gangloor area on August 12 following specific intelligence inputs, has seen intermittent exchanges of fire as security forces advance through the dense forest terrain.
Both injured personnel received immediate first aid at the site and are ready to be airlifted to Raipur for specialised treatment.
Police have confirmed that their condition is stable and they are out of danger. “Our teams are continuing the operation with full caution while ensuring the safety of our jawans,” SP Jitendra Yadav told The Statesman.
While no official confirmation has been provided on Maoist casualties, preliminary reports suggest the possibility of several insurgents being injured.
The encounter is part of an intensified counterinsurgency drive in South Chhattisgarh aimed at dismantling Maoist hideouts and disrupting their operational infrastructure.
The DRG, largely comprising local recruits familiar with the challenging terrain, has emerged as a key element in Chhattisgarh’s anti-Maoist strategy.
Its continued engagement in high risk operations underlines the security forces’ commitment to maintain security and fostering stability in conflict affected regions through coordinated and sustained action.
