Youth’s Mysterious Death in Bhubaneswar Guest House Sparks Murder Allegations

Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: A shocking incident unfolded near Nalco Square on Sunday evening when the body of a young man, identified as Sarat Chandra Bhattacharya, was recovered under suspicious circumstances from a local guest house.

According to police reports, Sarat had checked in with a woman companion who fled the scene following his sudden death. Sarat had been reported missing on December 19, with a formal complaint lodged the next day.

The guest house staff stated that Sarat’s condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting the woman to alert them.

However, when discovered, his body showed signs of foam from the nose, blood from the mouth, and visible injury marks, as alleged by his wife in her complaint.

The Maitri Vihar police seized the body and sent it for a postmortem at Capital Hospital. The autopsy report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, authorities are reviewing guest house records and CCTV footage to trace the missing woman and establish whether foul play was involved.

The incident has raised serious questions about safety and accountability in city guest houses, with the victim’s wife alleging murder and demanding justice.

Police have launched a full investigation into the case, treating it as a suspicious death until further evidence emerges.
