Youth Swept Away by Strong Currents at Garjanakhol Waterfall

Telkoi, Angul | August 30,  — A day of leisure turned tragic at the picturesque Garjanakhol waterfall when a youth, identified as Lipun Behera, was swept away by powerful currents while bathing with friends.

According to eyewitnesses, Lipun ventured too close to the waterfall’s edge and lost his footing. Despite frantic rescue attempts by his companions, the force of the stream proved overwhelming.

Local authorities, including the Bansapal Fire Brigade, have launched an intensive search operation. Rescue teams are combing the area, but Lipun remains missing as of the latest update.

The incident has cast a pall over the region, which is popular among tourists and locals for its scenic beauty. Officials have issued a public advisory, urging visitors to exercise extreme caution near waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season, when water levels and currents can be dangerously unpredictable.
