Bhubaneswar, Mar 4: In a tragic and gruesome incident, a youth allegedly killed his parents and sister following a heated argument in the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident was reported in Jayabada village under the Sadar Police Station jurisdiction in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
According to police, the argument between the accused, Suryakant Sethi, and his family reportedly stemmed from his addiction to online gaming.
Family members were deeply concerned about Suryakant’s behavior, as he was unemployed and frequently played online games despite objections from his parents.
Additionally, undisclosed family issues further contributed to the strained relationship between the accused and his family, ultimately leading to the tragic incident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth allegedly stoned his parents and sister to death at their house.
The deceased have been identified as Prashant Sethi (65), his wife Kanaklata (62), and their daughter Rosalin (25).
After committing the crime, the accused attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by the police.
Villagers discovered the three bodies lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed the police.
A police team arrived at the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
The accused is currently being interrogated to determine the motive behind the triple murder. (UNI)
