Youth in Odisha Arrested for Impersonating IAS Officer

Bhubaneswar(OT Webdesk): In a shocking turn of events, Aman Pradhan, a 24-year-old resident of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was arrested for impersonating an IAS officer from the Chief Minister’s Office.

The accused falsely posed as Manoj Kumar Sahoo, the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, in an attempt to extort money from government officials.

The incident came to light on April 22 when Aman made a phone call to the Deputy Director of Mines in Rourkela, introducing himself as an IAS officer and demanding money. Suspicious of the caller’s intent, the official reported the matter to the Udit Nagar Police Station.

Subsequently, Rourkela cyber police initiated an investigation and tracked the accused to Bhubaneswar. Aman was apprehended and charged under relevant sections of the law, including the IT Act. The arrest has sparked concerns over the growing misuse of technology and identity fraud in modern society.
