Yellow Weather Warning Issued for 8 Odisha Districts Amid Heavy Rain Forecast
Bhubaneswar, September 10 — The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for eight districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning activity.
The districts under alert include Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensified monsoon activity is driven by an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain indoors and avoid open spaces during storm conditions due to the risk of gusty winds and electrical disturbances.
District administrations have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergencies, including flash floods or storm-related damage. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged citizens to follow safety advisories.
This weather development is part of a broader monsoon surge across eastern India, with meteorologists warning of continued instability over the coming days.
