Women Empowerment Tsunami in Odisha: Pravati Parida Leads Celebration
Bhubaneswar, March 7: On the eve of International Women’s Day, Odisha witnessed a powerful celebration of women’s leadership and empowerment.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also heads Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism, spearheaded a program that honoured distinguished women across diverse fields.
The event began with a symbolic tree‑watering ceremony, representing growth and transformation.
Among the dignitaries were Mrs Kambhampati Jayasree (First Lady of Odisha), Dr Priyanka Marandi (wife of the Chief Minister), Surama Padhy (Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly), Anu Garg (Chief Secretary of Odisha, honoured for her leadership), and Sulochana Das (Mayor of Bhubaneswar). Senior officials from Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti also joined the celebration.
In her address, Parida emphasised that women in Odisha are not merely participants but drivers of change, shaping the state’s growth trajectory.
The large presence of accomplished women was hailed as proof of Odisha’s progress in gender equality and inclusive development.
The evening concluded with soulful performances by Susmita Das and Dr Adyasha Das, both State Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardees, adding cultural vibrancy to the celebration.
