Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: A day after the arrest of police inspector Tapan Nahak, a woman home guard who accused him of sexual exploitation under the false pretext of marriage has alleged that she is being pressured to withdraw the case.
The 28-year-old victim claimed that a senior police officer threatened to dismiss her from service and harm her family if she did not drop the charges. “Last Saturday, a constable approached me with an offer of ₹25-27 lakh to remain silent. When I refused, I was warned of dire consequences, including losing my job. Despite mentioning their names in the FIR, those involved have not been investigated,” she told a local news channel.
She further alleged that two unidentified men visited her house late at night and threatened her family. “They told my father that I could be abducted, compromised, or even killed,” she claimed.
Inspector Nahak has been booked under Sections 68 and 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for sexual exploitation by a person in authority and obtaining sexual intercourse through deceitful means. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
