Jajpur | July 2 (OT Webdesk)– In a distressing incident that has shocked the region, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men in Bhalukhai forest while she was grazing goats.
The crime occurred under the jurisdiction of the Bairi police station.
The accused—identified as Bhajaman Bhoi and Sananda Pihu, both locals—were arrested hours after the survivor filed a formal complaint.
“We acted immediately based on the woman’s statement, conducted a raid, and apprehended the accused,” confirmed Inspector-in-Charge Ansumala Das.
The survivor has undergone a medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
While the motive remains unclear, police sources indicated that the accused and the survivor may have known each other previously.
The assault has triggered widespread public outrage, raising urgent concerns about the safety of women in rural and forested regions of Odisha.
