Whispers of the Mountains Creates History as First Rajasthani Film in Indian Panorama at IFFI Goa 2025

Odisha-born filmmaker-producer Jitendra Mishra has once again brought regional cinema into the spotlight with Whispers of the Mountains, a poignant Rajasthani-language feature directed by Jigar Nagda.

The film achieved a historic milestone at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, becoming the first-ever Rajasthani-language feature to be screened in the prestigious Indian Panorama section.

Co-produced by Mishra’s Cinema4Good Pvt. Ltd. and Nagda’s Udaipur Pictures, the film drew packed audiences at INOX Panaji (Nov 24) and INOX Porvorim (Nov 25)

Shot against the breathtaking backdrop of Rajasthan’s Rajsamand and Udaipur districts, the narrative follows a father and son navigating survival, ideals, and the tension between economic progress and environmental sustainability.

Director Jigar Nagda explained that the film highlights how neglecting the environment can harm society, urging a balance between growth and sustainability.

Producer Jitendra Mishra emphasised that the selection at IFFI is not only a recognition of the team’s hard work but also a celebration of regional cinema’s universal appeal.

With its authentic storytelling and powerful themes of resilience, human spirit, and the bond between man and nature, Whispers of the Mountains stands as a testament to the growing influence of regional films on the global stage.
