Walkathon in Bhubaneswar Ahead of Fishery & Animal Resources Conclave Odisha 2026
Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: A spirited walkathon was organised in Bhubaneswar today as a prelude to the upcoming Fishery & Animal Resources Conclave Odisha 2026.
The event, flagged off at Kalinga Stadium by Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, culminated at Janata Maidan, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, public representatives, and senior officials.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, college students highlighted the importance of sustainable fish farming, livestock development, and animal welfare.
The walkathon underscored the role of fisheries and animal resources in ensuring livelihoods and nutritional security across Odisha.
Among the dignitaries present were MLAs Siddhanta Mahapatra (Digapahandi) and Akash Das Nayak (Korei), Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Director of Fisheries Mohammad Saddik Alam, and Director of Animal Husbandry Bijay Amrita Kulange.
The initiative marks the beginning of a series of outreach activities leading up to the conclave, which will spotlight innovation, sustainability, and public participation in fisheries and animal husbandry.
