Vigilance Seizes ₹28.7 Lakh From RDE Auditor in Odisha Bribery Case
Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Vigilance officials arrested Ambika Prasad Rath, an auditor at the Regional Director of Education (RDE) office, after he was caught red‑handed demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a college staffer.
The bribe was sought for verifying service records and correcting pay fixation statements under the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at Rath’s office and residence, leading to the recovery of Rs 28.7 lakh in cash.
Authorities have registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The investigation is ongoing, and vigilance officials are probing the source of the seized cash while examining Rath’s financial records.
