Vigilance Nabs ASI and Accomplice in Rs 40K Bribery Case in Koraput
Koraput, Odisha — In a decisive anti-corruption operation, Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narasingha Dora of B.Singhpur Police Station and a private individual, Sunadhara Amanatya, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
The bribe was solicited from a complainant involved in a domestic violence case, where ASI Dora was the Investigating Officer. According to sources, Dora had been coercing the complainant with threats of severe action unless the payment was made. Unable to bear the pressure, the complainant alerted the Vigilance authorities.
Acting swiftly, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught both accused red-handed while accepting the tainted money. The entire bribe amount was recovered on the spot. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were launched at two locations linked to ASI Dora to probe possible disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 33/2025, invoking Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing, with further revelations expected.
