Veteran Bollywood Singer and Actress Sulakshana Pandit Passes Away at 71

Mumbai: Sulakshana Pandit, the celebrated Bollywood playback singer and actress, passed away at the age of 71 at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. She had been battling illness for some time, and her demise has left a void in the Indian entertainment industry.

Born on July 12, 1954, in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, Sulakshana began her musical journey at the tender age of nine.

Her breakthrough came with the soulful rendition of “Tu Hi Sagar, Tu Hi Kinara” in the 1975 film Sankalp, which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.

Sulakshana’s acting career flourished in the 1970s and 1980s, with memorable roles in films like Hera Pheri, Apnapan, Khandaan, and Waqt Ki Deewar.

She shared screen space with legendary actors including Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kumar, Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, and Shatrughan Sinha.
