Varanasi Teaser Unveiled: Mahesh Babu’s Fierce Avatar as Rudhra Captivates Fans and Celebrities
Hyderabad witnessed a cinematic spectacle as filmmaker SS Rajamouli unveiled the title, first look, and teaser of his much‑anticipated film Varanasi (SSMB 29) at Ramoji Film City.
The event, streamed live on JioHotstar, drew an impressive lineup of stars, including Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, MM Keeravaani, Namrata Shirodkar, and Sitara. Shruti Haasan electrified the evening with a powerful musical performance.
The teaser introduces Mahesh Babu in a fierce new avatar as Rudhra, blood‑soaked and wielding a trident while riding a bull against the backdrop of ancient temples. The visuals hint at a cosmic narrative inspired by the Ramayana, spanning centuries and locations from Varanasi to Antarctica and Africa.
Celebrity reactions poured in immediately. Karan Johar hailed Rajamouli’s vision as “Epic,” while director Prashanth Neel praised Mahesh Babu’s commanding presence. Telugu actor Brahmaji dubbed the teaser “Avatar ka baap,” and music director Anirudh Ravichander joined the chorus of admiration.
Character reveals added to the excitement: Priyanka Chopra will portray Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran takes on the antagonist role of Kumbha.
