In the wake of a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including several tourists, the United States has released a stern ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory for the region.
This incident marks one of the most devastating attacks since the 2019 Pulwama strike, sparking fresh concerns over safety and stability in the region.
The advisory issued by the US Department of State warns against visiting key tourist locations such as Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam, as well as areas near the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan. However, eastern Ladakh and its capital, Leh, remain open for travel.
The attack has brought the precarious situation of Jammu & Kashmir into sharp focus, underlining the challenges of achieving peace in this volatile area.
