Unity March in Balasore: CM Majhi Leads 9‑Km Procession Honouring Sardar Patel

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Unity March in Nilgiri, Balasore, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The nine‑kilometre procession from Nilgiri to Mitrapur witnessed participation from thousands of students, youth, citizens, and government officials.

Carrying a 100‑foot tricolour, students symbolized patriotism and unity. Before the march, Majhi offered prayers at Jagannath Temple and visited a photo exhibition highlighting Balasore’s role in the freedom struggle and Patel’s life.

Addressing the gathering, Majhi described Nilgiri as the land of democratic spirit and resistance against injustice. He urged citizens to strengthen Odisha and India through collective effort, emphasizing that unity ensures victory over oppression.

Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryabanshi underscored the importance of knowledge in shaping the nation’s future, calling on youth to lead. Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Deputy Chief Whip Gobinda Chandra Das, MLAs Padmalochan Panda and Manas Kumar Dutta, and State Women’s Commission Chairperson Shobhana Mohanty were present. Nilgiri MLA Santosh Kumar Khatua welcomed the gathering, while District Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas expressed gratitude.

The march concluded at Mitrapur with celebrations reinforcing the message of unity and patriotism.
