Union Steel Minister Meets Odisha CM to Fast-Track Rourkela Steel Plant Expansion
Rourkela, Odisha – In a significant step toward boosting Odisha’s industrial growth, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan to deliberate on the expansion of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
The meeting, also attended by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, focused on accelerating land acquisition and ensuring smooth progress of the modernisation project under the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
Chief Minister Majhi underscored the importance of consensus-driven development, assuring that land acquisition would proceed only after addressing local concerns. “The state government will extend all possible cooperation, ensuring that people’s issues are resolved and land is provided on a consensual basis,” he said.
A committee headed by an Additional Chief Secretary-level officer will be formed to engage with locals and resolve pending issues through dialogue.
