Union Ministers Inaugurate Advanced Caster at Rourkela Steel Plant

Rourkela, Odisha: Union Ministers H. D. Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel & Heavy Industries, and Jual Oram, Minister of Tribal Affairs, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Caster #4 at the Steel Melting Shop-2 of the SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) during their two-day visit.

The ministers were warmly received at Rourkela Airport by senior officials from SAIL, RSP, and the Government of Odisha, along with local leaders.

A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented by the CISF RSP unit before the dignitaries began their plant tour.

Kumaraswamy observed the casting operations firsthand, commending the RSP team for successfully completing the project.

He emphasised the Government of India’s commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, to strengthen steel production and modernisation efforts across public sector undertakings.

Oram praised the dedication of the RSP workforce, recalling his personal connection with the plant and assuring continued support for its growth. SAIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Amarendu Prakash also lauded the collective efforts of employees, highlighting their role in driving industrial progress.

The ministers further inspected key facilities, including the Pellet Plant, Coke Oven Battery-7, and Hot Strip Mill-2, receiving updates on current operations and future expansion plans.
