Union Minister Praises Odisha’s Subhadra Scheme in WCD Review Meeting
Union Minister Annapurna Devi lauded Odisha’s flagship Subhadra Yojana during a Women and Child Development (WCD) review meeting, highlighting its role in empowering women through direct cash transfers.
She emphasised the importance of initiatives like Tithi Bhojan in Anganwadi centres and observances such as Poshan Diwas and Poshan Week to combat malnutrition, stressing the need for citizen-government collaboration.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that the fourth instalment of Subhadra payouts will be disbursed on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2026, ensuring transparency and timeliness.
The meeting also reviewed schemes including Mission Vatsalya, Ashirbad, Jashoda, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, with special focus on challenges in tribal and remote areas such as malnutrition and child marriage.
Senior WCD officials participated in the review, which is expected to strengthen Odisha’s welfare initiatives for women and children.
