Two Teen Brothers Fatally Hit by Train While Crossing Tracks in Rourkela
Rourkela, Odisha — In a heartbreaking incident late Tuesday night, two teenage brothers were killed after being struck by the Biramitrapur passenger train near Haripur Basti in Basanti Colony.
The victims, Ranjan Patra (18) and Jagan Patra (15), had earlier escorted their sister home from a mobile shop in Uditnagar. On their return, while crossing the railway tracks around 9:30 PM, they were hit by the train traveling from Barsuan to Biramitrapur. Both died instantly.
Government Railway Police (GRP) responded swiftly, sending the bodies to Rourkela Government Hospital for post-mortem. Ranjan worked at a local hotel alongside his mother, while Jagan was a Class IX student at Uditnagar Government High School.
The tragedy has reignited concerns over pedestrian safety near railway lines and the urgent need for improved infrastructure and public awareness to prevent such accidents.
