Two killed, three injured in Odisha firecracker factory blast

Bhubaneswar, Sep 21 (UNI) At least two people were killed and three others seriously injured today in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Odisha’s Boudh district, police said.

The powerful blast occurred at Jiakata-Chhatrapur village, ripping apart the concrete building where the unlicensed firecrackers were stored.

The impact was so severe that the structure was completely destroyed, and nearby houses were also damaged. The deafening sound created panic in the village, with locals initially believing it was a bomb blast.
Police stated that the two bodies were severely burnt and were difficult to identify. An inquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Forensic experts are working at the site to gather legal evidence. Rescue teams, including the fire brigade and the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), carried out the operation to rescue victims trapped under the debris. Police said the three injured people were later pulled from the rubble.
