Two killed, one critically injured as bike falls into canal from 20-ft bridge in Koraput

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a tragic incident, two persons lost their lives, and another sustained critical injuries when their motorcycle skidded and plunged into the Andarigada canal from a 20-foot-high bridge in Odisha’s Koraput district. The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
According to sources, the mishap took place around 5 am when the trio was returning from Maha Shivratri festivities at Chatua village near the Andhra Pradesh border. All three hailed from Sadam village in Pottangi block. While the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, the injured person has been identified as Tripati Khara.
Passersby, who witnessed the accident, immediately rescued Tripati and rushed him to Nandapur Community Health Centre (CHC) in an ambulance. Given the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital in Koraput for advanced treatment.
It is suspected that the bikers lost control while navigating a sharp turn on the stretch, leading to the accident. Meanwhile, police reached the spot and have launched an investigation to ascertain further details regarding the mishap.
