Two Arrested After Attack Outside Pratap Jena’s Quarters in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, March 20: Tension flared outside the residence of senior BJD leader and former minister Pratap Jena when a group of miscreants allegedly attacked his security staff and caretaker late Thursday night.
According to the FIR lodged by security guard Sujit Mishra, nearly 15–20 individuals stormed the premises, assaulted him and the caretaker, and attempted to suffocate him before hurling explosive‑like materials near the entrance.
Police swiftly arrested two accused — Siddhartha Kumar Swain (28) and Debi Prasad Lenka (34) — both with prior criminal records.
Scientific examination later confirmed that the seized remnants were firecrackers, not bombs.
Investigators suspect the incident is linked to internal disputes within a political organisation, following recent suspensions of members for anti‑party activities.
Authorities have seized the remnants and are continuing efforts to trace others involved.
